Alex: Alex studies the brain but harbors not so very secret desires to drop out of science and open a Vegan Lunch Truck. He likes riding his bicycle, eating the batter-dregs out of the mixing bowl, and reading wikipedia. In his "spare time" he runs a music blog, and fantasizes about his imaginary metal band, Galactic Acid.

Anna: Anna is a German unemployed horse vet. She was recently married to Gil (see below) in a ceremony that involved full body immersion in a tub of blue dye. She loves tango and contra dancing and doing most things outside. She has a dog (Glewen) who is named after a dwarf and has stumpy legs. You may have seen the two of them trying to do agility in the back yard or going for bike rides on the Minuteman bike path.

Benny: Benny moved to Millstone after living in rural Ohio for the past six years. She loves to cook, bake, eat and play ruckus games; wishes she knew more about gardening; spends a lot of time learning how to completely change career paths. Possibly more than anything else she enjoys listening to music that is as unlistenable as possible and hopefully one day will subject others to it over the radio waves.

Carmen: loves. learns. thinks. HARD works. prays. tries. FREQUENTLY life. millstone. brandeis. AMAZING family. earth. buddhism. GRATEFUL sunshine. fashion. music. HAPPY black.girl.genius.ME

Chandra: Chandra has been a massage therapist, house-gutter, compulsive volunteer, grant-paster, coffee and book sliger. She hates describing herself in a few sentences, and likes singing, cooking and digging in the dirt a lot. She's from Minnesota, and came to Boston via New Orleans. She's pretty tall, and likes giraffes and beets.

Daniel: According to those who know him best Daniel is a hippie at heart. He loves learning, puns, sarcasm and cheesiness. He also loves cheese, A LOT, and all things Vermont, his home State. Daniel recently returned to the Northeast after school in Florida and couldn't be happier! An active guy and he loves swimming, biking, hiking... ok, basically anything outdoors! Daniel, aka The Baker, bakes a mean loaf of bread, enjoys reading mediocre fantasy fiction and is a music buff. Traveling keeps him sane and being passionate keeps him happy. It's said you can hear his laugh for miles (for which he does not apologize).

Gil: Gil dislikes finite identity classifications. He loves to read and write and converse and so hopes to stay in school forever. Right now he tries to study the Old Testament from an interfaith perspective that draws on contemporary theory. He spends a lot of time dancing, primarily contra and tango, although tango often makes him feel insecure. Therefore, he enjoys coming home to a community of friendly, supportive people, none of whom are amazing tango leaders.

Hope: White, middle class, female, mostly heterosexual, college educated, able-bodied, US citizen, English speaking.....feels obligated to start with social identities b/c of their influence and impact on her circumstances and lifestyle. Interested in the politics of liberation/oppression. A work in progress....compassionate, dance, animals, music, community, healing, spirituality, has a history of front line work in the mental health field. Also loves chocolate in any form and really wants a tattoo someday but has always been to scared to get one. Hope thoroughly enjoyed watching Marcelo dance to Michael Jackson while writing this, oh yeah!

Joe: Joe has lived at Millstone since February of 2007. He moved to Boston after 7 years in a Seattle dot-com to explore the world of non-profit and live someplace with cooler architecture. If you were a fly on a wall, you might see him juggling, gardening, playing mandolin, traveling, learning Arabic, or building things out of stone. He loves snow.

Jon: While morphological features suggest a coastal origin sometime in the 1960's, recent molecular data indicate that Sanders jonathan (short: S. jon) may have first appeared in Iowa as late as 1984. Any similarities to true hippies are likely the result of convergence. S. jon can sometimes appear unpredictable or even incoherent, but the species has a generally amicable disposition and should be considered harmless. He generally prefers a semi-aquatic lifestyle, and has also been observed in herbaceous terrestrial habitats. Responds well to spontaneous food preparation and folk music jam sessions.

Marcelo: Marcelo is probably experiencing his 2,159 life. In his previous lives he was 800 times female, 600 times male, and in between a lot of different things. Marcelo is passionate/sensitive/compassionate about people's vulnerabilities, which means that he is not indifferent to those with some sort of pain or fear. Marcelo feels blossoming after overcoming many obstacles in the wild. He is quietly enjoying his new living environment while studying non-profit management at Harvard.

Mary: Mary loves Brazil. She lived there once, for many years, and still goes back. She now works for the Somerville Community Corporation doing cool things for the residents of Somerville. She also has the COOLEST easy chair this side of the Charles River.

Viki: Viki works in water resources management and loves the outdoors. On any given weekend day you can find her kayaking, biking, picking apples, or anything that involves being outside. She is interested in all things intentional-community..
